New to Guiding?
Our County has an established support system for new volunteers and hold very informal New to Guiding evenings. All volunteers new to us are invited to these evenings and usually will come along with a guider from the Unit that they are volunteering with. The Leadership Qualification is explained and those who wish to undertake this qualification are given further information on this evidenced based process. The evenings also contain ideas for activities to try in the Unit.
Volunteers - We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, age groups and abilities. Whatever your skills and interests, and no matter how much or how little time you have to spare, one of our volunteering roles is bound to suit you and your contribution is sure to be appreciated by the girls. Guiding is flexible and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle. You can volunteer to help out with:
• Rainbows aged five to seven
• Brownies aged seven to ten
• Guides aged ten to 14
• Senior Section aged 14-26
• There are currently around 48,000 girls and young women on lists waiting to join Girlguiding UK.
• By becoming a volunteer, you can help ensure that as many girls and young women as possible get the opportunity to experience the fun and challenge of guiding.
• You will be joining more than 80,000 other adult volunteers who contribute over ten million hours to guiding every year. Like them, you will enjoy the personal rewards and satisfaction that volunteering brings.
