Rainbows

Rainbows - age five to seven

Rainbows have fun! Rainbows play games, have parties, make yummy food, make friends and have adventures. Everything a Rainbow does helps her to develop and to think for herself, in a safe girl-only environment.

Rainbows make this simple Promise that they share with members around the world: I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful.

Rainbows have a range of items they can wear. As all girls wear the same thing they feel as though they belong. No girl is excluded because they do not have the right clothes.

Rainbows also have their own website www.girlguiding.org.uk/rainbows

Brownies

Brownies - age seven to ten

What do Brownies Do? Brownies have lots of fun, make heaps of friends, through their own programme that the Brownies which is called the 'Brownie Adventure' Through this programme they explore three areas :

                    You /  Community / World

The Brownie Adventure can include virtually anything the girls decide that they want to do, from an evening at the local park or cooking to abseiling and climbing.

Brownies may also go on a Brownie Holiday where they get to spend longer with their Brownie friends and take part in all sorts of activities that you don't get time to do at a weekly meeting.

Brownies also have interest badges that they can work towards. These are sometimes done in the unit or they can be done at home. Badges range from Collector and Friend to Animals to Wildlife Explorer and Healthy Heart. See more about Brownies here www.girlguiding.org.uk/brownies

Guides

Guides - age ten to fourteen

The girls work together in small groups called patrols and, with the support of their leader, choose and run some of the programme themselves. Meetings can take place at their regular indoor venue or outdoors and the girls can experience a wide variety of exciting activities from the adventurous such as climbing, archery or boating to games, crafts, cooking and community action projects. Many units go away for weekends or longer, either under canvas, in a house or youth hostel, on a canal boat or even overseas.

In Guides you make new friends , choose what activities you want to do, challenge yourself and you learn to be independent, help others and yourself. Guides enjoy activities both indoors and outdoors such as going to the Big Gig with top class acts, go climbing, abseiling camping, and loads more that you can read about on Girlguiding UK website.

Guidewear can be chosen from a large variety of items that can be viewed on the Girlguiding Uk website www.girlguidinguk.org so that it can suit the activity that you are doing. It includes t-shirts, sweat shirts, rugby shirts, etc. Guides have the chance to be selected for International camps in the UK and overseas There are opportunities to try loads of new activities. Participants choose from a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities which challenge them to reach their full potential. Each member tailors her own programme that allows her to have fun while doing the best she can. The Senior Section ‘Look Wider’ programme is a personal development programme that gives members the opportunity to try new things, further their abilities in areas that they have already experienced and to share their skills with others. It is designed to appeal to all young women and offers fun and flexibility with a wide range of activities and challenges . The programme is also linked to a variety of recognised qualifications or awards, both within and outside Guiding. Trefoil Guild

There are 6 Trefoil Guilds in our County in Dagenham, Ilford, Waltham Forest, Wanstead, West Ham and Woodford,  some hold meetings during the day and others in the evening.  Meetings are usually held monthly and differ from area to area with many joint meetings being held. We enjoy  speakers on items of interest, have outings, see slides and presentations on many topics and of course enjoy food!

Trefoil Guild has over 20,000 members. It is not necessary to have been a member of the Guide and Scout movement just to agree with its aims and objective. The Trefoil Guild is non-uniformed and helps and supports the uniformed sections in many ways.

It is open to anyone over 18, even if you have never been involved in either Guiding or Scouting, there is always a warm welcome for anyone who likes the idea of learning something new, travelling, meeting new people or getting involved in local Guiding & Scouting projects.
